  • Who is Gallant?
    Gallant is a forward-thinking company that’s dedicated to doing the best for you and your best friend. By preserving a pet’s stem cells, we’re empowering pet parents and vets with regenerative medicine to help our furry friends live healthier, longer.
  • How much does it cost?
    We offer two plans that allow you to choose the best way to pay:
    • Annual Plan: $95/year and a $395 courier & processing fee.
    • Lifetime Plan: A one-time payment of $595 and a $395 courier & processing fee. For the Lifetime option, we offer Affirm™ to make monthly payments.

    Some clinics may charge a collection fee (the average is $50)
  • Where is Gallant available?
    Gallant is available nationwide and already in a number of veterinary clinics, but best of all, ANY vet can do the Gallant storage procedure. Just tell us who your vet is, when your spay/neuter is scheduled and we’ll take care of the rest.
  • How does the procedure work?
    It’s simple. When you bring your dog into the vet to get fixed, discarded tissue from surgery will be sealed in our sterile collection kit and sent to our lab in La Jolla, California. Scientists there will process the tissue, separate and count your dog’s stem cells, and freeze them until your pup needs them later in life.
  • What are stem cells?
    Stem cells have the ability to transform into different types of cells, which is what makes them so amazing. What’s more amazing is that they can help repair damaged tissues like cartilage, bone and ligaments so your pup can stay happier, longer.
  • What is so great about stem cell therapies?
    The way we look at it, stem cell therapy is the most natural way to treat your dog’s ailments. We’re using your pup’s own tissue to treat and repair a variety of health issues that may arise as they age. Because it’s from your dog’s own biology, there’s no chance of it being rejected by their body.
    Stem cell therapies have shown great promise in treating a myriad of diseases in both pets and people. They can treat the source of the problem because they home to sites of inflammation. They have the ability to repair and regenerate tissue, prevent premature cell death, regulate immune responses and blood vessel growth, and help reduce scarring.
  • What can stem cells treat?
    A lot! Research has shown that stem cells can help alleviate a range of ailments and diseases that your pup may face in their lifetime. Here are a few of the most common ones:
    • Osteoarthritis (OA)
    • Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS; dry eye)
    • Knee Partial cruciate tears
    • Atopic dermatitis
    • Bone healing in TPLO surgery
    • Bone healing – trauma
    • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
    • Perianal fistulas
    • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
    • Renal disease
    • Liver disease
  • Stem cells: is that ethical/legal?
    Absolutely! The cells we collect and preserve for your dog come from the reproductive tissue that’s normally discarded during the spaying or neuter surgery. We don’t do work with embryonic stem cells, which are the ones you’ve probably heard controversy about in the news.
  • Is it safe?
    We care about your dog’s health as much as you do, so we created the most minimally-invasive collection process possible. We simply collect their tissue that is typically discarded during the spay/neuter procedure and send it off to our lab. There, your dog’s stem cells are processed and stored according to very strict guidelines and regulations. Rest assured, your pup is in good hands.
  • What are the risks?
    Since the tissue collection happens during a spaying or neutering surgery, there aren’t any extra risks in preserving your dog’s stem cells. They’re stored in our lab, which abides by the highest quality standards and FDA guidelines, so there aren’t risks there either.
  • I have heard of stem cells use on people, how come I haven’t heard about it for dogs?
    Actually, stem cells have been used in pets since 2007. There are a number of published papers on the use of stem cells in dogs. But up until recently, these treatments have been super expensive. That’s why we’re focused on making regenerative medicine more accessible for all dogs and their parents.
  • When my Pet needs it how are they treated with stem cells?
    Gallant’s stem cell treatments are in the development pipeline for release in mid 2020. Once they are ready, there are a few ways to treat your pup with stem cells. One is through injection, which targets a specific area. Another way is intravenously, which directs the cells right into the bloodstream. In both cases, your dog will be resting comfortably under anesthesia and probably dreaming about bacon.
  • Why should I bank my pets stem cells?
    Because banked stem cells never grow old! In storage, they remain young and healthy. So as your pup ages and their body’s cells begin to decline in quality and quantity, stored stem cells can be used to help them feel rejuvenated again.
  • Why is it better to bank than just wait until my dog needs treatment and use the stem cells then?
    Stem cells in the body age at the same rate as your dog. And over time, they lose the healing strength they once had.\* Stored stem cells on the other hand stay fresh and young. So when your pup needs a treatment, we infuse the healthiest cells back into their body to help them feel better.

  • How are my pets stem cells banked/stored?
    Once your pet’s tissue arrives at the lab, our team of scientists adhere to these steps:
    • Step 1. The tissue is accepted and inspected.
    • Step 2. The tissue is washed.
    • Step 3. Stem cells are then isolated from the tissue.
    • Step 4. The stem cells are counted.
    • Step 5. Stem cells are placed into vials for cell doses.
    • Step 6. Cells are frozen in liquid nitrogen.
    • Step 7. The cells are stored for later use.
  • When can I treat my dog and how much will it cost?
    We anticipate being able to offer stem cell treatments to Gallant pets within twelve months. These treatments are estimated to cost about $300, plus your veterinarian’s procedure fee. Right now, we offer a kit to your veterinarian for treatments called PRP (platelet rich plasma) which is for dogs that have osteoarthritis or other musculoskeletal ailments. Before Gallant, stem cell treatments cost upwards of $3000+, but our goal is to make regenerative medicine accessible to everyone.
  • How long does the treatment last?
    Gallant’s stem cell treatments are in the development pipeline for release mid 2020. Once they are ready, there are a few ways to treat your pup with stem cells.
    Historically, stem cell treatments can vary based on the issue that is being treated, but most pets see 1-4 years relief from a single dose. If symptoms return, consult your veterinarian and if you have additional doses banked, then another treatment might be their recommendation.
  • My dog has already been fixed, what can I do?
    For now, we’re only working with dogs that have yet to be spayed or neutered. That’s because the Gallant procedure is done during the spaying/neutering surgery. We plan to offer regenerative medicine for all dogs, so keep an eye out in the future.
  • My dog is older, has already been spay/neutered and has Osteoarthritis now. Can you help?
    If your dog is suffering from osteoarthritis or other musculoskeletal conditions, we don’t offer a treatment, but we have a kit to allow your veterinarian to help them live healthier. It’s called PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and can be administered by your vet with our Gallant PRP kit. Contact us directly for information and pricing at 1-888-GALLANT.
  • What is PRP?
    PRP, or Platelet-rich plasma, is a portion of blood that’s been processed to include more healing platelets and can help treat nagging orthopedic conditions. Derived from your own dog’s blood, it can be injected back into your pet to help them heal naturally and feel better.
  • What about cats?
    Unfortunately, our treatment isn’t for our feline friends just yet. We’re focused on stem cells for dogs right now. But down the road we hope to add cats and other companion animals to our offering.
  • Are there animals/dogs you don’t/can’t treat?
    Gallant is only offered to dogs at the moment, but we’ll grow to include other pets and animals in the future.
  • Have you done or doing clinical trials?
    We are investing millions of dollars in research and development to make your dog healthier and happier for years to come. Right now, we’re in the process of planning our clinical trials. However, since 2007, many clinical trials have shown how effective stem cell treatments can be on both pets and people.
  • What future uses of stem cells are being evaluated?
    Gallant’s stem cell treatments are in the development pipeline for release mid 2020. We are working on many common ailments for aging dogs and will be sharing our development pipeline in the coming months.
  • What is your quality control protocol?
    Gallant’s science and lab team has over 100 combined years of experience in regenerative medicine, clinical studies and operating laboratories. We have experts in place who have designed our processes and procedures to provide the highest quality to our customers. Our lab is GTP compliant and adheres to the rules and regulations set by the FDA.
  • How is my pets tissue shipped?
    After your vet collects the tissue, they’ll store it in a sterile preservation kit which remains at a cool 2-8 degrees Celsius for up to 48 hours to ensure it arrives in optimal condition. The same day of your procedure, a Gallant courier will pick up the sample from the vet and FedEx it overnight to our La Jolla, CA lab. There your dog’s tissue will be processed by our dog-loving scientists.
  • Can you clone my dog?
    We don’t offer cloning services for your dog. That’s because our focus is on helping the one you already have live a happier, healthier life.
  • How can I get my Vet to offer Gallant?
    With Gallant, you can choose whatever vet you prefer. To get yours on board, send their information to us at info@gallantpet.com and we’ll do all the hard work for you. Otherwise, have them visit gallant.com/for-veterinarians/ to see what the future of pet care is all about.
  • I don’t have a veterinarian yet, what should I do?
    If you are searching for the perfect vet for your puppy, you can still order Gallant stem cell storage. Then once you’ve found the veterinarian that’s right for your pup, let us know and we’ll take it from there. It’s important to find the right vet for your best friend, so take your time!
  • I don’t have a spay/neuter scheduled yet, can I still order from Gallant?
    Absolutely! Just place your order and provide us with your vet’s name and spay or neuter date once it’s scheduled.
  • I’m going to get my dog fixed at a mobile clinic, can I still use Gallant?
    You sure can. Gallant has been working with a handful of mobile spay/neuter clinics since we started. All you need to do is give us the name of your mobile clinic and we’ll deal with the details for you and your pup.
